To increase the rate of tech adoption improving operational effectiveness and consumer outcomes within Asset Management and Capital Markets. We do this by identifying best in class technological solutions and seeking to develop and grow firms
In October 2018 the Investment Association (IA) officially launched Velocity, a FinTech hub and accelerator for the buy-side industry. Velocity and IAFinTech membership is positioned to amplify and connect technology firms with buy-side organisations – which as a sector is actively seeking to engage and buy-in innovation.
Being part of the community as an IA FinTech member allows extensive visibility within the IA membership (over 250 members who look after in excess of £7.7trillion AUM) through online and social media, and also through a tech based events schedule incorporating TechTalks, our bi annual EmTech Futures and upcoming Webinars/Podcasts. As an IAFinTech member, you have the opportunity to access the extensive member only online IA technical resources and invitations to member only events. You also get to use the IAFinTech logo which we know helps build confidence and credibility when engaging with the sector.
Our team are here to discuss how we can help you raise your profile, gain insight and connect, much of this through digital channels. As an IA FinTech member we actively encourage you to apply for our highly regarded Velocity Innovators Programme, applications for cohort 3 open soon! See here for more details. If successful, the 6 month Velocity Innovators Programme provides unrivalled access to the Velocity Advisory Panel, industry insight, networking and of course exposure to potential investors, clients, partners and suppliers as well as use of our co-working space housed at the IA’s offices in London.
Velocity aims to bring together the best firms offering tech solutions for all aspects of the value chain, including ’RegTech’ and ‘WealthTech’, so that as an industry we can become more efficient and ultimately improve consumer outcomes. This is such an exciting time for the sector with innovation and digitisation a key priority for all firms
CEO the Investment Association
To remain globally competitive, the UK asset management industry must be restless in its quest for innovation and reinvention. FinTech firms are a key element in this process, driving innovation across the asset management industry to the benefit of investors, savers and pensioners. The launch of Velocity, the IA’s new FinTech Accelerator, will act as catalyst in speeding up the take-up of new technology in the sector and ensure that FinTech firms are embedded into the asset management ecosystem.

The UK is a world leader in asset management, but to stay that way we’ve got to keep ahead of the curve. There are over 93,500 people employed in the UK’s asset management sector, so the FinTech Accelerator – the first of its kind for the sector -will be fantastic news to them and to future entrepreneurs hoping to crack the market.
